Maruxa Mencía - Red Wine

Maruxa Mencía - Red Wine, from Virgen del Galir, is a young red wine from Valdeorras made exclusively from the Mencía grape variety. Produced from grapes from the Valdemioto and Valderrosal vineyards, it presents itself as a pure expression of the variety and a faithful reflection of the identity of this Galician region. Without oak aging, it prioritizes freshness, the clarity of the fruit, and the mineral character of the terroir.

In the glass, it reveals a clean and bright cherry-red color. The aroma is intense and expressive, with notes of fresh red fruit, earthy hints, and a well-defined mineral component. On the palate, it shows breadth while maintaining a very pleasant freshness, supported by good acidity. The profile is enveloping, balanced, and persistent, leaving a frank and vibrant sensation.

It should be served at 15ºC and pairs very well with sausages, white meats, fresh cheeses, and legume dishes. The name Maruxa, a Galician form associated with María, pays homage to the mother of the winery's founder. The 2018 vintage was awarded a gold medal at the Berliner Wein Trophy.
