Description | Marquês de Borba - Red Wine
Marquês de Borba - Red Wine is a flagship wine from João Portugal Ramos, produced in the Alentejo region from the Aragonez, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Petit Verdot, and Merlot grape varieties. The grapes come from calcareous and schistous soils, a factor that contributes to the expressive and balanced profile of this blend. The harvest is carried out by hand and machine, followed by vinification with controlled temperature of fully destemmed grapes in stainless steel vats, with a portion of the wine also fermented in marble lagares (traditional stone troughs).
The wine is aged for six months in small second- and third-year French and American oak barrels, lending greater complexity and integration to the whole. On the nose, it stands out for its excellent concentration, with intensely fruity notes of wild berries, cassis, and preserves. On the palate, it reveals smooth tannins and a good balance between fruit, acidity, and structure, resulting in a harmonious, enveloping, and very versatile red wine. A wine that reflects the character of the Alentejo region with a consistent signature and accessible style, designed to provide pleasure from the first taste.
